Sara Zaker is a popular TV and theatre actress and social activist from Bangladesh. She is mostly renowned for her raised voice against social injustice and corruption. This powerful social activist is also one of the founding members of the board of trustees of Bangladesh Liberation War Museum.
Though Sara initially started off in the field of science with a major in Biochemistry but later she found that science didn’t suit to her lifestyle and nature. That’s why she quickly moved to the field of Humanities, which was more suited to her nature and lifestyle. Then She completed her BA (honors) and Masters in English Literature from Dhaka University. She also got training from the British Theatre Institute in 1981.
Sara Zaker is currently working as the Deputy Managing Director of Asiatic 360, leading advertising agency of Bangladesh. Besides, she also holds the position of Project Head in Nayantara Communications since its inception in 2004, which is the co-producer of famous child education program Sisimpur. Sara is also the Managing Director of MRC Mode Ltd, leading marketing research company in Bangladesh.
Sara Zaker stepped into theatre play in 1973, almost the year when stage theatre was introduced as a regular medium of performing art in Bangladesh. She belongs to Nagorik Natya Sampradaya which is the foremost theatre group of Bangladesh. She was also the director of critically acclaimed Mukhosh, which gave her extreme popularity. Most surprisingly, Sara never even thought a career in the media. Once telling about her future plans, she said:
My dream is to be No 1 in the social communications arena. I would like to remain in theatre. This medium has become a part of me and I see my future in theatre.
This theatre icon has performed in many remarkable theatre plays. Some of her notable characters include:

- Kona from Badal Sircar’s Baki Itihas
- Ersha from Sot Manusher Khozey
- The Third Witch from Macbeth
- Shen Te/ Shui Ta in an adaptation of Brecht’s Der Gute Mensch von Sezuan etc.
This pre-eminent theatre artist is married to Aly Zaker, another colossal figure in Bangladesh’s TV and theatre arena. This couple now has two children- Iresh Zaker and Sriya Sharbojoya. Their son, Iresh Zaker, is another glorious actor and successful entrepreneur in Bangladesh. In addition, both Sriya and Iresh are now working as a brand communication manager and an executive director respectively in the Asiatic 360.
