Mim (Full Name: Bidya Sinha Saha Mim) is a Bangladeshi Model and Actress. She came in to limelight, after winning the most prestigious Bangladeshi beauty pageant show Lux Channel I Superstar award in 2007. Upon winning the contest, she acted in renowned novelist and film maker Humayun Ahmed’s movie “Amar Achey Jol” in 2007. Both of those made her an established her as a model and actress in Bangladesh.
Bidya Sinha Saha Mim was born in Bagha, Rajshahi. Due to her father, Birendra Nath Saha’s occupation, they had to move to Vola district and she was raised there. When she was in high school, her father joined Comilla Victoria College as the head of the Social Welfare Department. That is why the whole family moved in to Comilla. She passed SSC and HSC from there. Afterwards she moved to Dhaka for studying. When she was a graduate student, she participated in Lux Channel I Superstar award in 2007. During the competition, famous novelist and film maker Humayun Ahmed announced that he will cast the winner of the competition.
Bidya Sinha Saha Mim was crowned as a winner of the completion. After that, she got the chance of acting in the film “Amar Achey Jol” under Impress Telefilm Limited Production. The film received a moderate success at the box-office, but the critics praised Mim’s talent. She won the Meril Prothom Alo Award for leading actress in Film in 2008 for that movie.
After that film, Mim took a break from the silver screen for almost two years. During that period, she started to appear in modeling and TV dramas. She met success where ever she steeped her foot. She has acted over 30 TV dramas, and almost all of them became popular. Some of her popular TV dramas are, Mahfuz Ahmed’s “Shesher Kobitar Porer Kobita”, Doyal Rahman’s “Jodha Akbar”, Himel Ashraf’s “Valobasar Graan”, Saiful Islam Mannu’s “Cholona Bristetay veeeji”, Sheikh Selim’s “A B C”, Sheikh Selim and Alam Ashraf’s “Tini Bujhtey Parlen Je Eta Prem Noy”, Partha Sarker’s “Will You Marry Me”, Mohan Khan’s “Nil Josnai Kalo Shap”, and Mizanur Rahman’s “Shopnogulo Tai Opurno”.
Mim acted in her second movie Amar Praner Priya, which was released in 2009. In that movie, her co actor was Shakib Khan, the most popular film actor in Bangladesh. The film went on to become a box-office success in Bangladesh and it was noted for its soundtrack and choreography. For her acting in the movie, she was nominated for the Meril Prothom Alo Award in the best actress category.
Mim’s third film “Jonakir Alo” is released in 2013 and the fourth film “Kanamachi” is scheduled to release in 2014.
Besides acting, Bidya Sinha Saha Mim is a writer too. Her first book “Sraboner Brishtitey Veja” was publishe in Amor Ekushay Book Fair 2012. “Sraboner Brishtitey Veja” is a collection of 8 stories written by Mim. The book was a big hit, as it was sold around 250 copies, within two hours of its release. Her second book “Purnota” was pulished in 2013. “Purnota” is a novel.
Bidya Sinha Saha Mim completed her S.S.C in Science Major. Then, she completed her H.S.C as a student of Humanities group from Comilla Victoria College. Currently she is studying in Jahangirnagar University.
Bidya Sinha Saha Mim’s father Birendra Nath Saha is the head of the Social Welfare Department in Comilla Victoria College and her mother is a housewife.
